Barrichello On Top In Jerez

Rubens Barichello and Williams set the fastest lap of the day today in Jerez. After trouble earlier in the week with   Maldonado having to rebuild the KERS (Kinetic Energy Recover System) and then only 2 laps later crashed into the barrier in turn four. However there were no such problems for Barichello today who managed 103 laps fastest of which was 1.19.832. The fastest of any in Jerez and the first under 1.20

Williams said
"We did suffer from a hydraulic leak during the middle of the day but overall it's encouraging that we've had no major fundamental failures on the car - especially considering how tight the package is.
"All of the faults that have been causing our downtime in the recent days are small things that systems will quickly put right."
Kamui Koybayashi was second fastest and Fernando Alonso who managed 115 laps was third. Bruno Senna got his first drive in a Lotus-Renault and placed 5th  he also had to adjust to using a KERS and an adjustable rear wing.
There was 5 red flags in the day,  caused by Rosberg, D'Ambrosia, Barrichello although they had no damage to their cars. Although Kobayashi caused some damage by hitting the barrier at turn 8 and Paulo Di Resta had a "suspected front suspension failure" on his Force India. There was rain towards the end of the day and Sebastian Buemi was fastest with  1.35.893
There are only two tests left before the curtain raiser in Bahrain on the 13 of March
