The Pole who crashed his Skoda into a barrier last week while rallying, is currently recovering after 9 hours o surgery in Italy
Lauda today said
"It makes no sense for him to put his job and his life at risk like this. Was it unreasonable? Of course it was"
"He has to ensure that he can do his job, and his job is F1. Only he is to blame for what happened to him. Did he have to be doing this? No!"
"That's nonsense," he exclaimed, "Rally driving has nothing to do with F1. They are different sports."
This is not the first time Lauda has made controversial comments regarding F1 or otherwise. He currently works as an F1 commentator for a German television station.
Kubica has said he is making every effort to make it back at some point this year, meanwhile Lotus-Renault has already lined up several possible replacements including Bruno Senna and Vitantonio Liuzzi and the odds on favourite Nick Heidfeld
